This is usually an issue with not being able to reach the EoS servers for authentication. It isn't a game issue, it is an internet/DNS issue. I would start by fully flushing the DNS cache from the computer, powering off the router/modem, powering off the PC, then turn the modem back on, wait...

IIRC there was a bug where if you eat/drink while riding and basically get infinite stamina/food/water. So the mechanic was removed.
