V3 Quick Guide: Understanding enemy tiers in the sandbox

In V3, the sandbox option Max Enemy Tier controls how far up the zombie ladder enemies can spawn — from slow normals to elites. Our reference lists every entity type with clear stats.

Sandbox: six max tiers

Max Enemy Tier in-game has exactly these steps (higher settings include all lower ones):

  • Normals — standard shamblers, incl. bee swarm & insect swarm
  • Strongs — e.g. biker, lumberjack, wolf, snake
  • Specials — e.g. fat cop, demolition, bear, zombie dog
  • Ferals — running variants, zombie bear, dire wolf
  • Radiated — green glowing zombies
  • Elites — charged & infernal (blue/orange)

Reference: plus animals

The enemy-tiers page also lists an Animals group (chicken, rabbit, stag, boar … including the occasional hostile variant such as Chicken Hostile). Animals are not a separate Max Enemy Tier step in the sandbox, but they appear in the reference.

The full list with HP, XP, speed, and loot is here:

What the reference offers

  • Compact / Details — table or card view with HP, XP, wander/aggro speed (min/max), loot chance, and type
  • Search — by name, tier, or entity class (?q= in the URL)
  • Tier filters — chips for normals, ferals, animals, and more
  • Jump links — scroll straight to a tier section
  • Sorting — in the compact table by name, HP, XP, loot, glow, or type
  • Variant comparison — click a name to compare normal, feral, radiated, charged/infernal side by side
  • Glow colors — green (radiated), blue (charged), orange (infernal) as color swatches

Build presets or share sandbox codes via the server config generator → options Enemy Spawning and Max Enemy Tier.
